AEROSMITH: Des Moines Concert Cancelled

March 21, 2006

Kyle Munson of the The Des Moines Register is reporting that AEROSMITH's concert Thursday at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines has been canceled according to the band's official fan club, Aero Force One.

It would be the ninth consecutive concert that the Boston-based classic rock favorite has scrapped since March 4.

AEROSMITH's publicists have repeatedly offered no comment, but quotes from arena managers around the nation have cited lead singer Steven Tyler's vocal troubles as cause for the cancellations.

The Boston Herald reported Sunday that Tyler is “under doctor's orders to rest his severely strained vocal chords, which have taken quite a beating since the band's 'Rockin' the Joint' tour kicked off last fall. ... Steven, who also was felled by the flu, has been kicking around the house on the South Shore (of Boston) for the past couple of weeks.”

AEROSMITH's stop in Des Moines had reportedly sold about 12,000 tickets. No official word yet from Wells Fargo Arena managers on the cancellation, or when refunds might become available.
